“Polar Express on the Square” event to go on, rain or shine

Despite the threat of rainy or severe weather, “Polar Express on the Square” in downtown Dadeville will go on Sunday night, according to organizers at Mix it Up! on Lake Martin.

The holiday event from 5-8 p.m. Sunday is planned to include a visit from Santa Claus, face-painting, train rides with the conductor from “The Polar Express,” Christmas cookie decorating, a variety of snacks and hot chocolate.

Rodney Kilgore of PaPa’s Choo Choo will be decked out in the uniform popularized by Tom Hanks’ character in “The Polar Express” movie, offering train rides.

Mix It Up! at Lake Martin said the event would go on rain or shine. The screening of “The Polar Express” will be moved to the second floor at l28 North Broadnax Street in case of rain. They encouraged attendees to bring a chair or blanket and to wear pajamas.
