Dr. Grady Lee Rearden

Dr. Grady Lee Rearden, Jr. of Jackson’s Gap, AL passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2013. He was born August 27, 1939 to the late Grady L. Rearden, Sr. and Jennie Patterson Rearden of Opelika, AL. He graduated from Opelika Clift High School in 1957. He attended Marion Military Institute from 1958-1959, and graduated from the University of Alabama in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. While at the University of Alabama, he was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity and Alpha Epsilon Delta pre-medical and pre-dental honor society. He received his dental degree in 1965 from University of Alabama Birmingham School of Dentistry. Dr. Rearden was a member of Psi Omega dental fraternity while in dental school. After graduation, he practiced with the state hospital from 1966 until 1972. Dr. Rearden established his private practice in Tuscaloosa in 1972. During this time, he became a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry. He was in private practice until his retirement in 2004 when he moved to Jackson’s Gap, AL to live at Lake Martin. Survivors include his daughter Virginia (Britt) Yarbrough, his granddaughters Carlin and Brittony Yarbrough of Dadeville, his sister-in-law Sue Rearden of Opelika, niece Gina (Matt) Shoemaker of Phenix City, and nephew Jonathan (Jennifer) Rearden of Westover, AL.

Graveside services will be at Garden Hills Cemetery on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to East Alabama Medical Center Cancer Unit.
