Winfred Applis Williams

Born Applis Hammock in Reeltown, Al. Applis attended Troy University and  Auburn University receiving a master’s degree in education. In 1950 she married Charles G. Williams a young USAF airman and so became a military wife.
Being stationed at many different Air Force bases with her husband, Applis taught early childhood education in Japan, FL,NC,KS,AL for over 20 years. When her husband Chuck retired from the Air Force, they moved to Lake Martin and built Chuck’s Marina and Lake Martin Realty, two successful businesses. Applis was broker for the real estate office. An avid golfer and accomplished artist, she has enjoyed living on Lake Martin for over 40 years.


Predeceased in death were her parents Leon and Ida Hammock, brother Willie Joe Hammock (Notasulga), sister Margret Mann (Montgomery) and her husband Chuck Williams. She is survived by one son,  Timothy C. Williams (Dadeville), daughter in law Debra H. Williams (Dadeville) and two granddaughters Liz Erwin (Auburn), Lauren Erwin (Birmingham).
Funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday November 3, 2013 at Union United Methodist Church in Dadeville, AL with Rev. Dana Miller officiating. Family will greet friends from 2:00 PM until the time of service.
Graveside services following the in Union United Methodist Church Cemetery. Alabama Funeral Homes in Dadeville, AL are handling the arrangements.
