Kathy Edwards Mehan

Kathy Edwards Mehan, 61, of Dadeville, AL, passed into the hands of the Lord on Thursday, October 31, 2013.  She was the loving wife of Robert Mehan Sr. for forty-three years.
She is survived by her son, Robert Mehan Jr. (Rebecca) of Acworth, GA and her two daughters: Marian Yarbrough (Joey) of Dadeville, AL; Megan Pontious (David) of Baker, FL and 9 grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Joseph Edwards (Dale) of Ft. Walton Beach, FL and sister, Michelle Perkins (Larry) of Okeechobee, FL as well as many, many loving nieces and nephews.
Kathy was a hardworking woman who was deeply loved by all who met her.  She loved to sew and often sewed gifts and clothing for her children and grandchildren. Her favorite time of year was autumn when she could “smell” fall in the air and the temperatures began to cool.  She also enjoyed making blackberry jelly as well as feeding and watching the ruby-throated hummingbirds.
Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the Cancer Wellness Foundation of Central Alabama or to your favorite charity.  Visitation will be held Friday, November 1, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Alabama Funeral Home in Dadeville, AL, and a graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Woods Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Jackson’s Gap, AL., with Pastor Ken Griffith officiating.  Alabama Funeral Homes and Cremation Centers of Dadeville, Al. are in charge of the arrangements.
