Appreciating an open forum

Published 6:16pm Monday, November 4, 2013

Dear Editor,
As a regular contributor to the “Letters” section of the Outlook, I wish to THANK YOU for the continuing opportunity to publicly express my opinion. As many readers may know, I firmly believe in the Bill of Rights and understand how critical the First Amendment is to our American way of life. It appears that recently the community has “caught fire” with political spirit on all sides of the issues of the day.
Many of our citizens are finding the Letters section of the Outlook a welcoming and convenient outlet for their opinions. Nothing could be more healthy nor more engaging for our citizens than to liberate their views through this forum. I am excited and encouraged by our citizens having the self-confidence and willingness to engage in sharing their opinions with the rest of us.
I personally reject any calls for restriction of this wonderful service. I also applaud the Outlook for its even handedness and unbiased participation in this process. THANK YOU!
