Dadeville alum and West Alabama quarterback Kyle Caldwell is tearing it up in the Gulf South Conference, and his play has earned him another award.
Caldwell, who quarterbacks the West Alabama Tigers, won the Gulf South Conference’s offensive player of the week.
In a 45-14 victory over West Georgia this past Saturday, the junior showed off his dual-threat skills, accounting for 321 total yards and three touchdowns.
146 of those yards came on the ground, and Caldwell’s rushing total led all players in the contest. Passing, Caldwell was 14-of-19 for 175 yards to go along with his three touchdowns.
His three touchdown tosses moved him into second place on the Tigers’ all-time career passing touchdowns list with 43. Caldwell leads the GSC in total offense, averaging 245.1 yards per game.
Caldwell and the UWA Tigers are 6-2 this season, and currently are perfect in conference play with a 4-0 record.
Next for the Tigers is a road matchup versus North Alabama (5-2, 3-1 GSC) this Saturday at 3 p.m.
