Lighten up a bit

Published 5:36pm Monday, October 21, 2013

Dear Editor,
This responds to the rants of Woody Baird in Thursday’s Outlook.
C’mon Woodrow, lighten up a bit.  The world hasn’t ended despite having the Affordable Care Act passed into law and upheld by the US Supreme Court.  Sure it’s having a difficult roll-out … so did other major federal programs including Social Security and Medicare … but how about waiting for some needed tweaks before predicting its demise.
Nor has the world ended since the country twice elected our first black President who, to answer your question, I like just fine after the way he handled the recent government shutdown and debt limit fiasco.  And while we’re on that topic, how about showing proper respect for the highest office in the land as you were taught in your military leadership training?  Give it a try.
Woody, while we might disagree on how we get there, we all want the same things for our families – quality of life, good health, and opportunity.  So take a deep breath, maybe even a cold shower, and get a grip.
