Tigers XC finishes secondPublished 5:59pm Monday, October 14, 2013
Dadeville High School’s Zack Johnson ran a personal best in the 5K run, as he led the Tigers to a second-place finish at the J.D. Evilsizer Panther Cross Country Invitational.
Johnson’s personal-best time was good enough to secure a win in the race during the Class 1A-4A event.
“His hard work and dedication are paying off,” said Dadeville track coach Sabrina Milligan. “He has improved with every 5K run.”
In addition to Johnson, Chase Farr also performed well during the event.
Milligan said Farr and Johnson have become team leaders this season.
“They’re both dual-sport athletes,” Milligan said. “Not only are Zack and Chase playing football and running cross country, they’ve become the team’s No. 1 and No. 3 runners, respectively.”
Milligan said Johnson has significantly improved, and the extra time he has put into his running has shown.
“He is turning into one of the better runners I’ve ever coached,” Milligan said. “Running first period, maintaining a 4.0 GPA and running again after football practices turn into long days. However, that’s what it takes to become an elite runner, and his best is yet to come.”
