Lady Tigers improve to 12-4 on yearPublished 6:45pm Tuesday, October 1, 2013
A young Dadeville Tigers volleyball team is earning its stripes as the season heads into the final month.
The Lady Tigers dominated Tallassee and Childersburg last week, and followed up those victories with a strong showing during this past weekend’s Red Devil Tournament at Central-Phenix City High School.
“We did not drop a set against Tallassee or Childersburg,” said Dadeville volleyball coach Sabrina Milligan. “Those were probably the best all-around matches we had played all year.”
Hallie Cocx and Sierra Wyckoff were pivotal keys to the Tigers’ wins over their 4A opponents.
“Hallie is playing unreal right now,” Milligan said. “She has been playing all over the floor. She was killing it. Hallie was hitting every thing, and Sierra Wyckoff was right there with her. Those two beat Tallassee and Childersburg to death.”
Dadeville (12-4) was eliminated in the semifinals of the Red Devil Tournament by 6A school Jeff Davis by scores of 23-25 and 22-25.
“We were a play here or a play there away from winning one of those sets,” Milligan said. “So we still have some things to improve on.”
The Tigers will try to continue to close out the year strongly, as they have already wrapped up the top seed in area play.
They will wrap up their season with four straight home meets, starting with Beauregard on Oct. 8.
