Griffin Pritchard, formerly sports editor of The Wetumpka Herald and The Eclectic Observer, has been promoted to managing editor of The Tallassee Tribune. All three newspapers are publications of Tallapoosa Publishers Inc.’s Elmore County division. He will fill the post vacated by Ashley Vice.
Pritchard joined the staff of The Wetumpka Herald in May 2008. He is a native of Alexander City and a graduate of Benjamin Russell High School. He earned a double major in print journalism and sports information from Troy University.
“This is going to be different after covering sports almost exclusively for five years,” said Pritchard. “I’m excited about the challenge and about building relationships with the people of Tallassee.”
His previous posts included stints as sports editor at The Greenville Advocate and Selma Times Journal and  as managing editor of the Demopolis Times.
Cory Diaz, most recently sports editor of The Tallassee Tribune, has been promoted to fill the sports editor slot at The Herald.
Diaz is a native of Wetumpka and graduated from Holtville High School in 2006. He earned a degree in journalism from the University of Alabama in May 2010.
“I’m excited,” he said. “This will be a tough, but rewarding challenge. I look forward to meeting and working with everyone in my new position.”
Kenneth Boone, president and publisher of Tallapoosa Publishers Inc., said he thinks both moves will be positive for the employees, the company and the communities involved.
“I think they are going to do great jobs,” said Boone. “Both of them work hard and are very deserving.”
