Authorities search for Dadeville womanPublished 10:46am Monday, September 16, 2013
Police and family members are searching for Dana Franklin Barlow, a Dadeville woman last heard from around lunchtime Wednesday.
Barlow’s husband reported her missing to the Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Department around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. She is described as 5-foot-6, 145 pounds with green eyes and brown hair. She reportedly left for a job interview Wednesday morning in a powder blue 2007 Kia Spectra.
Her family lives at StillWaters, near Dadeville. She left the residence around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to family friend Stephanie Andrews. Barlow spoke to her husband Scott at 11:30 a.m., saying she was on her way to the interview and then planned to stop to buy groceries. Scott added a few items to the grocery list, Andrews said, for a family dinner he was planning for that evening.
But no one has heard from Dana Barlow since.
Tallapoosa County Sheriff Jimmy Abbett said the last “contact by location of the cell phone” put her on Old Sylacauga Highway.
Law enforcement checked that area Wednesday night and again Thursday and no vehicle was found, he said.
“We haven’t ruled out criminal activity or non-criminal activity,” Abbett said, adding that a nationwide Be On The Lookout bulletin was sent with Barlow’s description and that of her vehicle. Andrews said Dana Barlow has an 8-year-old daughter, who went to stay with her biological father for the duration of the search.
Scott Barlow “hasn’t slept at all,” Andrews said Thursday morning, and was “trying to keep busy.
“He sat here all last night calling every hospital in the state just trying to do something,” Andrews said.
Anyone with information about Barlow’s whereabouts is asked to either contact local authorities or the TCSD at 256-825-4264 or the secret witness line at 256-827-2035.
