Thanks for strong showing with FERCPublished 11:26am Tuesday, September 10, 2013
This letter is to offer sincere gratitude to the Lake Martin Community for the over whelming support in the recent “call to action” to attend the public hearing and file comments in support of the Alabama Power Company request for a higher winter level and extended summer pool for Lake Martin.
It has been truly amazing and very encouraging to witness the results of what this community can do when working together for a common cause.
Tallapoosa Publishing Inc, with its broad coverage, talented writers and inspired leadership does an outstanding job of keeping everyone up to date, informed and motivated.
We are truly blessed to have the availability of this comprehensive network of news coverage offered by Kenneth Boone and his staff.
We are also thankful to our elected officials, at the national, state and local levels who have been totally supportive with some making valuable comments at the public meeting and others submitting letters to FERC asking for consideration to be given to the tremendous economic benefits that would result from the change.
The Lake Martin business community made a strong showing at the public hearing offering facts and figures about the economic benefits associated with an extended lake usage.
In the final comments filed by Alabama Power Company, Jim Crew, Manager Hydro Services, was able to make several references about the tremendous support offered by Lake Martin stakeholders.
We don’t know when FERC will render a decision and we can only hope and pray for a favorable outcome but we can be grateful for our united community which will be of extreme importance as we continue to face critical issues threatening both the quality and quantity of the water in Lake Martin.
