Horseshoe Bend to clash with Wadley Bulldogs

Published 11:12am Thursday, August 29, 2013

After an 8-3 season in 2012, the Horseshoe Bend Generals enter 2013 with hopes of replicating that success.
Step one of that starts tonight when the Generals travel to Wadley High School to face the Wadley Bulldogs in a rivalry clash.
Last season, the Generals ran the Bulldogs out of Newsite, winning the season-opening contest in convincing fashion.
Horseshoe Bend hung 59 points on the scoreboard thanks in large part to a sensational perfomance by Cory Battle.
Battle has since graduated, and the running game of the Generals will go as far as junior runner Jackson Sexton and freshman scatback Drew Hill can take it.
Quarterback also has a new face on board, as Major Abernathy takes over the reins.
He brings a dual-threat element to the Generals offense.
Defensively, the Generals will count on Tristian Millien and linebackers Sexton and Isac Holt to set the tone for the team.
The Generals have beaten Wadley four consectutive times.
In each victory, Horseshoe Bend has won by a double-digit point margin.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. tonight at Wadley High School in Wadley, Ala.
