Trooper wrecks

A State Trooper vehicle was involved in a one car accident Friday night.

According to witnesses on the scene, the accident occurred around 9 p.m. on U.S. Hwy. 280, just south of the River Bridge. The SUV trooper vehicle left the roadway, striking a pontoon boat and metal awning before coming to rest.

The Alabama State Troopers are investigating the accident. No further details, including the identity of the trooper, were available as of press time.
