Mr. Elvin Albert Hamlett

Funeral service for Mr. Elvin Albert Hamlett, 63, of Alexander City, will be Monday, July 15, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Rev. Tim Harris and Rev. Bennie Lee Yates will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 15, 2013 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Mr. Hamlett passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at his residence. He was born on September 4, 1949 in Daviston, Alabama to Albert Jefferson Hamlet and Katherine Willoughby Hamlet. Mr. Elvin graduated from Daviston High School and also Auburn University with at B.S. in Physical Education. He was a member of Comer Memorial Baptist Church and loved his Lord. He worked at Russell Corporation for 30 years at #6 Mill. He also owned and operated his own lawn service. Mr. Elvin was an avid sports fan, especially the Auburn Tigers. His family was always number one and he was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle and will be missed greatly.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Susan Blankenship Hamlett of Alexander City; daughter, Rebecca Ann Hamlett of Bloomington, IN; son, Miles Patrick Hamlett (Corey) of Alexander City; granddaughter, Avery Elizabeth Hamlett of Alexander City; mother, Katherine Hamlet Hester of Daviston; brother, Rev. Thurman Hamlet (Brenda) of Alexander City; sister, Janice Whetstone (Leonard) of Kellyton; sister, Kathy Powell of Alexander City; sister, Cynthia Hill of Daviston; brother, Jeff Hamlet (Cynthia) of Daviston; and sister, Amy Duffie (Jeff) of Daviston; mother-in-law, Magdalene Blankenship of Alexander City, AL; sister-in-law, Amanda Mann (Mike) of Alexander City; brother-in-law, Tim Blankenship (Norma) of Cragford; sister-in-law, Maria Blankenship of Hinesville, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Jefferson Hamlet; and brother-in-law, James Melvin Blankenship.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be given to SouthernCare Hospice, 755 Lee Street Suite B, Alexander City, AL 35010 or to Comer Memorial Baptist Church, 341 E. Church St., Alexander City, AL 35010.
