Tigers’ Gilbert earns All-Star nod

Published 11:53am Thursday, July 11, 2013

In addition to Terry Toler, the Dadeville Tigers have another pass-catcher heading to Montgomery for the 17th annual Alabama All-Stars Sports Week.
DHS wide receiver Damarius Gilbert will play for the South team in Alabama’s annual North vs. South football game. The 6-foot, 175-pounder operated mostly between the hashmarks for DHS head coach Richard White and teamed with Toler to create a dangerous duo.
“Both guys meant a lot to our program,” White said. “Each played four years for us.”
Gilbert became more integrated into the Tigers’ offense as teams began to devote extra defenders to try to contain Toler.
“When teams would double team Terry, we went to Gilbert a lot more,” White said. “Both guys are going to be hard to replace. Still, to be selected to the Alabama All-Star Week is an honor, and I hope that they both go down there, have a good week of practice and play well.”
