BRHS QB Club raffle, dinner set for July 9

Published 9:04am Friday, July 5, 2013

With the start of the gridiron season inching closer and closer, the Benjamin Russell High School Quarterback Club is preparing for its annual raffle and steak dinner fundraiser.
The event is set to start at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9 and will be held at the Elks Lodge.
Tickets for the event are $100 and will cover admission and dinner for two during the event.
According to BRHS Quarterback Club co-captain Scott Blake, all proceeds will go to the BRHS Wildcats football team.
“We’re going to use the money to get the boys equipment and feed them before and after the games,” Blake said. “We’ll also use the money to cover transportation fees when we have to charter buses for some of the farther road games. We do a lot with the money.”
Blake said the goal for the event is to sell 200 tickets.
“At this point, we’re about halfway there,” he said. “So we’re making a big push to close strong.”
In addition to the dinner, there will be a raffle held where the owner of the last ticket drawn will win $4,000.
Additionally, door prizes will be given away throughout the night.
“This event has been going on for more than 20 years, so it’s a pretty big deal,” Blake said. “A lot of people are going to walk away with something, but mostly we want people to come out and have a good time.”
Any interested in purchasing a ticket for the raffle can contact Blake at (256) 794-1003, BRHS QB Club co-captain Bart Jones at (256) 794-4788 or Tim Rape at (256) 827-9658.
