Central Alabama All-American golfer Alex Mahlik secured a fifth-place finish during the 97th Men’s State Amateur Championship, which was held at the Hoover Country Club this past weekend.
Mahilk was one of three CACC golfers, present and future, to compete in the event.
John Michael O’Toole finished tied for 15th during the event.
Central Alabama recruit Cody O’Toole finished in a tie for 53rd.
Mahlik was in the hunt for the top spot for the entire tournament, shooting a 67 and a 69 in the first two rounds, which had him in second place.
However, Mahlik sputtered a bit toward the end, shooting a  three-over par in the third round and a one-over par during the final round. He shot four-under par in the overall tournament.
John Michael overcame a round one 76 to charge up the leaderboard, as he was as low as 72nd in the standings at one point.
He closed the tournament on a high note, shooting an even score of 72 in the final round.
Cody shot two rounds where he scored a 72 or below, but he had a tough finish to his outing, shooting a 10-over par score of 82 during the final round of play.
