Dadeville High School graduates 2013 class

Balloons soared, caps flew, cameras clicked, tears fell and the crowd cheered as the Dadeville High School class of 2013 graduated Friday night.

Tiger Stadium was filled with family and friends as each student walked across the proverbial stage to receive their diplomas.

Salutatorian Alaina Kizziah shared encouraging words with her classmates, urging them to go forward and achieve their dreams.

“You must always have faith in people, but more importantly you must always have faith in yourself,” Kizziah said.

Valedictorian Jimmy Haddox shared a number of inside jokes with his classmates that kept everyone in stitches, including everything from impersonating Principal Chris Hand to sharing phrases such as “like a boss,” “My fingers, they itchin’, they itchin’ for that paper” and “We’re gonna whoop ‘em.”

Haddox also shared a more serious side of commencement, quoting the insights of famous inspirational role models like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and scriptures from Ecclesiastes 1, sharing his thoughts on the passage of time and how to measure it.

“The time seems to have flown,” Haddox said. “I measure my time by the friendships and memories I have made. My time here has been long and fruitful.”
