A few of the Central Alabama Lady Trojans have separated themselves from the pack and have been recognized as some of the best softball players in the Alabama Community College Conference this season.
Center fielder Taylor Clinkenbeard, left fielder Robyn Wallace, catcher Shannon Summers and pitchers Alyssa Kornegay and Lindsay Broome each found themselves as All-Region or All-League honorees.
Clinkenbeard was a first team All-Region and All-League selection.
A freshman this year, Clinkenbeard shined at the plate hitting .444 on the season.
Clinkenbeard was also quite the bandit for CACC, as she swiped 62 bags for the Trojans.
Broome was a dual-threat, winning 19 games on the mound and leading CACC in home runs (12) and RBIs (55) as she was chosen to the All-League first team and All-Region second team.
Kornegay, a first-teamer for the All-Region and All-League teams, won 18 games, struck out 169 batters, and compiled a 1.70 ERA as the Lady Trojans’ ace.
In the 24 games she pitched, she went the distance in all but two of them.
Summers, who was second team All-League, was second on the team in RBIs (51) and home runs (8), while leading the team with a .730 slugging percentage.
Summers was also a stalwart defensively, earning a .979 fielding percentage.
Wallace was as perfect as one could be defensively, making no errors all season while patrolling the outfield.
She was also a second team All-League selection, as she had 51 hits and hit .378 on the season.
