‘Cats end first week of practice

Published 10:35am Monday, May 6, 2013

With week one of spring practice in the books, BRHS head football coach Danny Horn says there’s still work to be done.
“We’ve got to get more depth in several positions, and that’s what we’ve been working toward,” he said. “Overall, I’ve seen better, but I’ve seen worse as well.”
Horn said some of the new Wildcats on the block have caught his eye during the first week of practice.
“They may end up contributing some in the season,” he said. “I’ve been impressed with some of them. The older players are doing well.”
With the Wildcats’ Maroon and White spring game in two weeks, Horn said the team needs to use its time to improve its depth.
He added he would see which players that are currently under the radar would be able to make an impact and where they can do so.
“I know what some of these guys can do,” Horn said. “We need to know what the younger players can do, and we’ve been moving guys around to find out.”
BRHS’ Maroon and White spring game will be May 17 at 6 p.m. at the Sportplex.
The ninth-grade intra-squad game will precede the game.
