Lady ‘Cats honored

Published 10:50am Tuesday, April 30, 2013

While the Class 5A state championships may not have gone well for the Benjamin Russell Wildcats tennis teams, the girls were recognized for their grace on the court.
The Lady Wildcats were named the recipients of the Sportsmanship Trophy.
The honor is voted on by peers.
“I’m very proud of the girls,” BRHS girls tennis coach Tony Franklin said. “To me, them winning the Sportsmanship Award means almost as much as a state championship.”
Franklin said the team’s conduct was exceptional all season.
“They’re great kids,” he said. “They competed with class and conducted themselves with class all  year. I always look forward to practice with them. This award is a testament to the kids and parents.”
