DHS track prepares for sectional meets

After a third-place finish at the Beauregard meet last weekend, the Dadeville track and field team is feeling confident heading into this weekend’s sectional meets, according to DHS track and field coach Sabrina Milligan.
“I didn’t think we would get third, as Lanett and Beauregard had been beating us all year,” she said. “For us to get third and outscore Beauregard along the way, I’m very pleased. I’m shocked, actually.”
Dadeville finished behind Phenix City and Tallassee at the meet.
Juzlyn Jones ran a personal-best 1:04 in the 400-meter dash. Zack Johnson won the two-mile run and secured top three finishes in three other events.
Every Lady Tiger athlete placed in the top three for every event they participated in. Milligan said this performance could be a sign of good things for the girls team.
“I think the girls should win the sectional meet,” she said. “At the very least, all of them should qualify for the state championship meets.”
Milligan said Beauregard and Tallassee are the two teams that threaten Dadeville the most on the boys side.
“We’ve come a long way,” she said. “We’ve got a young team, but we’ve got a shot if we can stay consistent.”
