Inmate escapes from work release facility in Alexander City

Authorities are searching for an escaped inmate after his disappearance from a community facility in Alexander City.

According the Alabama Department of Corrections, Daniel Lee Bass was reported missing from his job site at 12:30 p.m. after failing to return from a restroom break.


Bass was sentenced out of Shelby County in Sept. 2012 to five years in prison for theft of property.

Bass was recently denied parole in February and is scheduled to end his sentence in March of 2014.

Bass is described as a white male standing at 5 feet, 9 inches and weighing 165 pounds with brown eyes and red hair.
