Man injured in fork lift accident

Published 12:31pm Tuesday, April 23, 2013

A Montgomery man was airlifted from Russell Medical Center yesterday after being injured in a fork lift accident.

According to the Alexander City Police, emergency personnel responded to the construction site of the new Walgreen’s building, at the intersection of U.S. Highway 280 and Ala. Highway 22 around 3:30 p.m.

Onelio Atjon, 33, got pinned between a metal beam and a pole being lifted with a fork lift. When the fork lift was moved to unpin Atjon, he fell six feet to the ground, according to an accident report.

It is not known whether the fall or being pinned caused the injuries.

Paramedics transported the man to RMC before he was airlifted out of the area. His condition is unknown, and no further information was available as of press time.
