Mr. Thurmond “Thump” Smith

Mr. Thurmond “Thump” Smith, 76, of Alexander City, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2013. He was born on December 3, 1936 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama to Raymond Mckenley Smith and Mrytle McCain Smith.

He is survived by his brothers, John Smith and Ortie Smith; niece, Debbie Harris; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Smith grew up in a family of fourteen and attended New Site School.  He was a selfless man who loved animals, gardening, and eating fried chicken.

Mr. Smith worked alongside his brother as a Contractor for over 40 years and was an excellent carpenter who loved to work with his hands. He was preceded in death by his parents and eleven siblings.

The family requests no flowers but memorial donations be given to the Lake Martin Animal Shelter, PO Box 634, Alexander City, AL 35011.  A memorial service will be held at later date.
