Mrs. Doris L. “Polly” Bennett

Funeral service for Mrs. Doris L. “Polly” Bennett, 86, of Bel Air, Maryland and formerly of Alexander City, will be Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home with one hour visitation prior to the service.  Rev. Steve Arnberg and Rev. Clyde Coker will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends on Friday, April 19, 2013 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bennett passed away on Friday, April 12, 2013 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center.  She was born on May 31, 1926 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama to James C. Daniel and Lonie Mae Coker Daniel.  Mrs. Bennett was an owner of a transportation company and loved traveling to new places.  She volunteered at Russell Medical Center and enjoyed reading, making people smile, and spending time with her family, especially her grand and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Dan Bennett (Jackie) of Alexander City; daughters, Sherry Bennett (Charles Chalker) of Atlanta, GA and Shelia B. Sheldon (Pat) of Bel Air, MD; granddaughters, Karen Milton (Alan) of Birmingham, Lea Bryson (Christian) of Mobile, and Jessie Bennett of Bel Air, MD; and 6 Great-Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Buddie Bennett and her parents.

The family will accept flowers or memorial donations may be given to Children’s Harbor, 1 Our Children’s Highway, Alexander City, AL 35010 or any animal shelter.
