The Generals of Horseshoe Bend took an 8-4 loss on the diamond to Prattville Christian Academy.
The defeat dropped Horseshoe Bend to 7-14 on the year.
Brady Fuller got the start for the Generals but the Panthers were able to get to him early on.
John Bobo led off the game with the first of his three doubles.
The Generals gave up two runs in the first inning.
Horseshoe Bend was able to respond as Fuller settled a bit in the second and third innings.
The Generals also got on the board in the third, making the game 2-1 after an Alec Cheatham single scored Timothy Dean.
The fourth inning was where the Panthers once again got to Fuller and company. Despite forcing two quick outs, the Generals were unable to get a third out before the Panthers increased their lead to 4-1.
“It’s been the same story all year,” Generals head baseball coach Jason Johnson said. “We get two outs and then make an error. Offensively, we get the bases loaded then hit the ball hard right at somebody. It seems like we’re kind of snakebitten right now.”
Prattville Christian Academy’s lead got up to 6-1 before a passed ball allowed Issac Holt to score. Red Lewis drove in Tyler Meadows to get the Generals within three.
The Panthers scored two more runs in the top of the sixth to make it 8-3. Horseshoe Bend threatened in the bottom of the seventh befort a Fuller groundout ended the night.
“As bad as we played we still had a chance to win,” Johnson said. “But the negatives are still outweighing the positives and at this time of year, that’s not a good thing.”
