Jazz Fest deadline draws nearPublished 11:06am Friday, March 29, 2013
The deadline for the annual Jazz Fest poster contest is fast approaching, and organizers want to remind potential entrants that no entries will be accepted after Monday, April 1.
“Monday is a firm deadline,” said Kim Dunn, Alexander City Chamber of Commerce membership services director and events coordinator. “The committee will be meeting that night to pick a winner.”
Dunn said the chosen art will be used on the commemorative poster and T-shirt for Jazz Fest, and the chosen artist will receive $250, a table at the Friday night event of Jazz Fest and VIP parking.
She said entries must include “23rd Annual Alexander City Jazz Fest” and “June 7-8, 2013” and may use up to four colors, including black.
Digital art should be vector format like Illustrator (.eps, or .ai), or Photoshop (.psd), high-resolution 300dpi, type/copy (fonts provided) on layers. It must be a minimum of 65-line screen if computer generated. It must be vertical and no larger than 16 inches x 20 inches.
There is no cost for entry, and there is a limit of three entries per artist. Physical copies of artwork should include the artist’s name on the back of the poster, and digital submissions should include the artist’s name in the body of the email.
Entries may be emailed as a JPG or PDF document to email@example.com.
The Chamber of Commerce will be closed today, so those wishing to hand deliver their artwork can wait until Monday or take their entries to Henry Foy at Emporium Wine.
“This contest is a great way to get involved in Jazz Fest,” Dunn said. “We want all artists from across the area to get something in to us.”
