A three-run double by Ryan Raspino got the Central Alabama Community College baseball team off to a flying start, but it took nearly all of the Trojans’ arms to lock down a 9-7 road win over Shelton State this past Tuesday.
Seven CACC pitchers saw action in the contest, with Zach Mayhew earning the win for the Trojans (17-10) after going three and two-thirds innings without allowing a run.
Darius Reese, Ben Hall, B.J. Martin, Jalin Lawson, Alex Lee and Blaine Miller also drove in runs for CACC.
Gabe Dees started for CACC, but he gave up six walks in just over two innings of work.
The Trojans walked 14 batters over the course of the game.
CACC also had to survive a late-inning scare, as Shelton St. cut a 9-5 deficit to two in the bottom of the ninth.
Jamie Patterson struck out the final batter with runners on second and third on to end it.
