The Alabama Sports Writers Association released its 2012-2013 All-State teams, and Central-Coosa’s Xavier Moon, Dadeville’s Rae Williams and Terry Toler and Lyman Ward’s Dillan McMullen are representing their schools as selections.
Moon was a first-team selection in Class 3A. The Cougars’ point guard led the team in scoring and steals.
“Being on the All-State team wasn’t a real goal of mine,” Moon said. “But I thank God for that.”
Rae Williams was a second-team selection. The Lady Tigers’ woman in the middle averaged a double-double on the season while leading the Lady Tigers to the Class 4A State Semifinals.
“I’m proud of her accomplishments,” DHS girls basketball coach Mitch Joiner said. “We couldn’t have done half of what we did without her. She was a delight to coach, a good person, a good ballplayer and a great leader.”
Dillan McMullen was a Class AISA All-State selection. McMullen was the floor general for the Rangers, leading the team in assists.
“He really set the tone for us,” LWMA basketball coach Dwayne Thomas said of McMullen. “His play at point guard opened up a lot of things and he was able to break down the defense for us. On top of that, his leadership was influential as well.”
Terry Toler was an honorable mention selection for the Dadeville Tigers. the 6’5” guard led the team in scoring and to a 20-win season and a playoff berth.
“He’s meant a lot to me personally and to our team as a player,” DHS boys basketball coach Rodney Taylor said. “He’s been here five years and we’ve made the playoffs all five years and the regionals three years. It’ll be hard not seeing his name in the scorebook for us next season.”
The Outlook recognizes these four players for their achievements this season.
