Busy B’s consignment opens in downtownPublished 12:47pm Friday, March 15, 2013
There’s a new store on Broad Street – Busy B’s Consignment Store is now open for business.
“I believe in revitalizing older downtown areas,” said Bonnie VanGundy, store owner. “I think a downtown is the heart of the city.”
Bonnie said she formed a connection with the historical downtown and decided it was the perfect location to pursue her dream of opening a consignment store.
“I was just drawn to this area,” Bonnie said. “I just love this little town. It has such a comfortable feel ,and the people are so nice, so mannerly.”
Bonnie said she has long dreamed of opening a consignment store.
“I’ve dreamed of opening a consignment store since 2004,” Bonnie said. “My husband said, ‘why don’t you stop talking about it and just do it?’”
Bonnie said Busy B’s consigning program allows the store to carry a variety of items.
“We have something for everyone,” Bonnie said.
She said the consignment store offers clothing for men, women, juniors, children and infants.
“We’re trying to serve the entire community and meet the needs of the entire community,” Bonnie said. “We hope to appeal to a wide range and not just one age.”
She said in addition to clothes, Busy B’s sells accessories like jewelry, handbags and scarves, and will also have home décor items available.
“We have shoes, jackets – even formals,” Bonnie said. “Why drive 40 miles to go shopping when you can purchase quality things right here in town? Our tagline is ‘Big city style with small town charm.’”
Bonnie said Busy B’s will host a fashion show at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 23 to showcase new merchandise to the community.
“We want to show people how to dress in consigned clothing and look stylish for spring,” Bonnie said.
Busy B’s will hold a grand-opening Wednesday, March 20 with a chamber of commerce ribbon cutting from 2-4 p.m.
Bonnie said members of the community are invited to both events.
