Mrs. Miriam Woodyard Wilkerson

Mrs. Miriam Woodyard Wilkerson, 51, of Birmingham (formerly of Camp Hill) who died Saturday, February 23, 2013 at her residence.  Funeral service will be held at Mt. Lovely Baptist Church, 21900 Senator Claude Pepper Dr., Camp Hill,. Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. (CST) with Rev. Bernard Harris officiating.  Interment will be in the Camp Hill cemetery.  The remains will lies instate at the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Wilkerson was born August 2, 1961 in Camp Hill to the late Tory and Winnie Bell Evans Woodyard.  She united with the Mt. Lovely Baptist Church at an early age and was active in the church during her youth.  She graduated from Edward Bell High School in Camp Hill, Class of 1980 and then joined the United States Army.  Mrs. Wilkerson served her country proudly for  six years at Ft. Braggs, NC, Ft. Riley, KS and also did a tour in Bosnia.  After completing her military service, she and her family decided to make Birmingham their home.  Mrs. Wilkerson was employed at St Vincent Hospital and a member of the Worship Center both in Birmingham.

Mrs. Wilkerson is survived by her husband:  Darron Wilkerson, Birmingham; two daughters: Ashley (Antonio) Woodyard Underwood and Jessica Sheree Woodyard Wilkerson both of Birmingham; one grandson: Jaimouryn Fuller, Birmingham; five sisters Matilda (Archie) Hamilton, Ezell (Nathaniel) Smith, Sandra (Chris) Woodyard; Marilyn (Stanley) Finley all of Camp Hill and Evelyn Ann Cox, Dadeville; two brothers; Forris (Denise) Woodyard, Camp Hill and Marshall (Sherrie) Woodyard, Dallas, TX; a mother-in-law: Frances Wilkerson, a father-in-law: Rufus Peyton both of Birmingham, seven aunts:  Louis Tinsley, Chattanooga, TN; Geraldine Shelley, Myrtis (William) Tinsley, Maggie (Daniel) Gross, Mary Cox all of Cleveland, OH, Eva Felton, Chapel Oak, MD and Idell Stone Woodyard, Camp Hill; two uncles: James Edward Evans, Chattanooga, TN and Gary Leroy Gunn, Opelika; two brothers-in law: Timothy (Tiwanna) Wilkerson and Kerri (Yolanda) Wilkerson nd one sister-in-law: Lasharra (Antonia) Ware all of Birmingham; a dedicated cousin, Terry Brown, Birmingham and two devoted nieces: Niakia Phillips, Hampton,GA and Yoland Vines, Dallas, TX and many other relatives and friends.

Vines Funeral Home, Inc., LaFayette, is handling the arrangements.
