The Generals of Horseshoe Bend are off to a rough start on the diamond after losing a double-header to Tallassee by scores of 11-2 and 8-4.
“They executed a lot more things offensively than we did,” Generals baseball coach Jason Johnson said. “They bunted the ball well and moved runners over.”
Tyler Meadows and Jackson Sexton each had two hits.
Issac Holt collected an RBI.
The Generals looked poised to split the double-header as they were up 4-3 in the sixth inning, but mistakes doomed HBHS.
“We made a couple errors and couldn’t close the deal.,” Johnson said. “We played well enough to win, but we can’t get outs when we need them. That’s been the story of the year so far.”
That isn’t the only area that the team is struggling in, according to Johnson.
“Although the stat sheets don’t show it, we’re hitting the ball a little better,” he said. “ But we struggle to get runners in.”
Next for HBHS will be a tournament in Handley starting next week.
