Animal shelter meets goalPublished 11:30am Thursday, February 14, 2013
As I sat in my car calculating the 5 p.m. numbers, I was brought to tears.
After 10 hours caged, I was concerned I would not only about whether I would make the financial goal, but whether I could keep my promise to my daughter.
I had 5 percent battery life on my phone and couldn’t input the numbers fast enough. The total fell just below the goal of $2762.25 (75 cents for every animal we assisted in 2012), and then I recalled the pledges.
We did it! We beat the goal and shaved two hours from the previous year.
I am ever so thankful and humbled by the outpouring of support. This fundraiser is near and dear to my heart because of the incredible impact of spay and neuter.
This is more than a fundraiser but an apology to those that could not be saved.
Every penny raised will be issued to the community and not the Lake Martin Animal Shelter. Ultimately we are saving thousands and euthanizing hundreds less.
To every individual that donated I would like to express my sincere gratitude. I wish I could shake your hand and hug your neck for your participation. I applaud all pet owners that have spayed or neutered their pets.
Thank you for being part of the solution.
