Mrs. Kay M. Bland

Funeral service for Mrs. Kay M. Bland, 63, of Millbrook, will be Friday, February 15, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 14, 2013 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bland passed away on Monday, February 11, 2013 at her residence.  She was born on September 13, 1949 in Pensacola, Florida.   Her parents were James D. Cope and Ethel Pinson Cope.  Mrs. Bland enjoyed fishing, yard sales, and thrift stores and even owned the “Almost Anything” thrift store.  She was an excellent cook and was known for her cornbread, potato salad, and Barry’s Ham. She loved her children and she treated their friends just as they were her own. She was a very generous person and her children gave her the title “The World’s Best Mama.”

She is survived by her husband, Ronney Gene Bland of Alexander City; daughters, Shawn E. Brown (Barry) of Kellyton and Melissa Anne Moomey (Josh) of Alexander City; son, Dayton Lee Smith, III of Millbrook; sister, Bonnie Faye Frazier (Ray) of Hope Hull; brother, Ronnie Ray Moore (Debbie) of Jay, FL; and grandchildren, Cody Smith, Abigail Brown, and Logan Moomey.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Harold Hughes.
