Mrs. Edna Bell Austin

Funeral service for Mrs. Edna Bell Austin, 94, formerly of Alexander City and Monarch Estates in Auburn, and currently of Arbor Springs in Opelika, will be Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Alexander City.  Rev. Jeff Freeman will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.

Mrs. Austin passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at East Alabama Medical Center.  She was born on April 1, 1918 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama to John Bert Solley and Jewel Greer Solley.  She was a lifelong, charter member of Calvary Heights Baptist Church and was very active in her church.  She worked for Russell Corp. 40 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Betty Jo Cook (Robert) of Auburn; son, Billy Paul Austin of Jacksons Gap; grandsons, Kyle Evan Austin (Amanda) and Robert Lee Cook (Lori); great-grandchildren, Ashleigh Cook, Allison Cook, and Emily Austin; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Clifton Austin; her parents; 10 siblings; grandson, Benjamin Paul Austin; and daughter-in-law, Deborah Austin.

The family will accept flowers or contributions may be made to Calvary Heights Baptist Church, PO Box 414, Alexander City, AL, 35011-0414.
