Funeral service for Mrs. Betty Burton Peters, 79, of Alexander City, will be Monday, February 11, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home.  Bro. Tony Harris will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 10, 2013 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.

Mrs. Peters passed away on Friday, February 8, 2013 at Russell Medical Center.  She was born on December 19, 1933 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama to John Magnus Burton and Lois B. Bunn Goodwin.  She was a member of Sixth Street Baptist Church.  Mrs. Peters worked at White’s Bridal Shoppe in alterations for over 20 years and also had worked at Paul’s Pharmacy and Bealls.  She enjoyed going to flea markets and yard sales, fishing, sewing, doing arts and crafts, cooking, especially sweets, and going on spur of the moment trips. Mrs. Peters also enjoyed the Ladies Coffee Club at Carlisle’s.  Most of all Mrs. Peters loved her family dearly and was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Clarence Homer Peters of Alexander City; daughter, Sandra Freeman of Alexander City; grandchildren, Eric Shae Ivery (Brandy), John Michael Ivery (Tessa), and Daniel Lynn Yates; great-grandchildren, Dylan Shae Ivery, Isabella Ann Ivery, Kayleigh Ann Ivery, and Abby Nicole Ivery.

She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Teresa Peters Ivery.
