The Dadeville Lady Tigers are a step closer to the Class 4A, Area 5 championship after a 73-43 dismantling of Beulah High School.
Destiny Green led Dadeville High School with 16 points, and was one of three Lady Tigers to reach double figures.
Janie Moran scored 14 points, 12 of those coming via the three-ball and Laquashous Stowes also employed the long-range shot to her advantage as she scored nine of her 11 points with three-pointers.
The Beulah Bobcats were overmatched from the start, as the Lady Tigers roared out to a 10-0 run to open the game behind strong play from Green.
Thanks to Moran’s and Stowes’ lethality from three, Dadeville closed the period in even more dominating fashion, ending the first quarter on a 17-1 run.
The Lady Tigers were up 33-7 as the second quarter began. Green scored 13 of her 16 points in the first quarter.
Dadeville increased its lead to 35 in the second quarter as most of the reserves saw playing time. The starters played sparingly in the third quarter and none of the fourth.
“I thought that was the best half of basketball our girls team played all year,” DHS girls basketball coach Mitch Joiner said of his team’s play in the first half. “I didn’t have anything to say at halftime. I had no complaints. They did absolutely nothing wrong.”
Dadeville will play Handley High School in the finals of the area tournament. Handley defeated Beauregard 51-47 to advance.
