Mr. Oscar Harlan McDaniel

Funeral Services with military honors provided by the Alexander City Honor Guard, for Mr. Oscar Harlan McDaniel, age 80, of Alexander City, AL will be held on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013 at 2:00pm in the chapel of Bass Funeral Home. Rev.’s Jerry Wheeles and Tony Harris will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. The family will also receive friends on Monday from 12-2pm at Bass Funeral Home.

Mr. McDaniel passed away on Friday, February 1, 2013 at Adams Health & Rehab. He was born in Clay County on July 28, 1932 to Hoyt McDaniel and Vida Cheaney McDaniel. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, was a self employed painter and a member of Calvary Heights Baptist Church. Mr. McDaniel loved his Lord, his family and was a devoted, loving Christian father and grandfather. His favorite past time was fishing and he enjoyed being outside in God’s beautiful creation.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Lee McDaniel; one son, Mike McDaniel (Mary) of Alex. City; one daughter, Marilynn Sims (Stanley) of Fort Payne; one brother, Mack McDaniel (Ann) of Thomaston, GA; one niece and nephew; one grandchild, Kristan Brown of Alex. City and one great grandchild, Brayden Brown of Alex City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hoyt and Vida McDaniel.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Adam’s Health and Rehab for taking care of Mr. McDaniel.
