The arrest comes following a joint investigation between the Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Department and the Alexander City police into alleged sexual abuse violations.

Ford was arrested Friday and charged with three counts of sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12 and one count of tampering with evidence.

Sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12 is a Class B felony.

Ford remains in custody awaiting a bond hearing.

Ford was immediately terminated from the Alexander City Police Department.

“I appreciate the professional work done by the investigators with the Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Department along with the detectives of this department throughout this investigation,” said ACPD Chief Charles Rafford. “As a community, as a city and as a department, we cannot and will not tolerate criminal behavior by any member of this police department. Once such behavior is discovered, we move quickly to remove that offender.”

No further information is available at this time.

Kudos to Chief Rafford for sacking the perv and not defending him or putting him on paid administrative leave while and internal investigation is conducted. Great job Chief!
