Herman “Jr” Tharpe

Herman “Jr” Tharpe, 72, passed away at Lake Martin Community Hospital on Sunday, January 27, 2013.

Mr. Tharpe was preceded in death by his parents: Herman Louis Tharpe, Sr. and Birdie Mae Tharpe, his wife: Linda R. Tharpe; two sons: Herman Louis Tharpe III and Herbert Lee Tharpe; two sisters and 4 brothers.

Mr. Tharpe is survived by two daughters: Irma Huerta of Alvin, TX and Judi (Terry) Douner of Jackson’s Gap, AL., one son: Herman Louis (Ehelen) Tharpe IV of Columbia, SC., eight grandchildren: Joy (Trey) Crawford of San Antonio, TX., Jonathan Perez of Alvin, TX., Jennifer Cox of Georgetown, TX., Jasmine Tharpe of Russelville, AL., D’Metrius Oleskevich of Columbia, SC., Malichi Oleskevich of Columbia, SC., and Herman Louis Tharpe V of Columbia, SC., two great-grandchildren: Cassidy Rae Crawford of San Antonio, TX and Izabella Cardenis of Alvin, TX., two brothers: Dan Tharpe and Billy Ray Tharpe, both of Alexander City, AL., and a host of nieces and nephews.

Herman was a non-denominational minister who loved God and his family.

He also served in the Navy during the Viet-Nam Conflict.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, January 29, 2013 from 5pm until 7pm at Alabama Funeral Homes. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Thursday, January 31, 2013 with Pastor Ron Siggers and Brother Craig Guy officiating at the funeral home with graveside services to follow at Tallapoosa Memory Gardens.

Alabama Funeral Homes in Dadeville is handling arrangements.
