Funeral service for Mr. William Samuel “Sam” Brown, 72, of Dadeville, will be Friday, January 18, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home.

Rev. William McElveen will officiate and veteran’s honors will be provided by the Alexander City Veteran’s Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 18, 2013 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at Radney Funeral Home.

Mr. Brown passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at East Alabama Medical Center.

He was born on August 7, 1940 in Jefferson County, Alabama to Benson Young Brown and Mattie Lee Wallace Brown.  He was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Brown worked for General Dynamics, a branch of Chrysler, as a Tank Repairman and Weapons Manufacturer for 30+ years.  He enjoyed traveling, woodworking, and tinkering on most anything.

Mr. Brown also enjoyed playing Santa for Alexander City and was know for his wonderful laughter and kind personality.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Susan Kay Wilson Brown of Dadeville; son, Kevin Brown of Dadeville; grandchildren, Katheryn Marie Brown and Susan Rosalind Brown; great-grandchildren, Cameron Horle, Michael John Horle, Jr., Leland Samuel Horle, Vincent Sterling Horle, and Stephanie Renee Brown; sister, Peggy Ferellea of Birmingham; daughter-in-law, Audrey Scholtz; and special friend, Angela Scott of Ypsilanti, MI.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Wally Brown and Benson Brown.

The family will accept flowers but requests memorial donations be given to Lake Martin Animal Shelter, PO Box 634, Alexander City, AL 35011.
