Despite a shaky start, the Benjamin Russell grapplers rebounded to defeat Prattville in a team meet 40-24.
Blake Chappell, Latrevor Millner and Deon Maxwell were difference makers for the Wildcats, each man getting pinfalls to turn the tide for BRHS.
“We came back on (Prattville),” BRHS wrestling coach Andrew Campbell said. “We bumped Chappell up a weight class to 197 so he could get us some points and we wouldn’t have to forfeit. He came up with a 15-second pin and I was proud of him for that one.”
With Auburn High School next on the schedule, Campbell said he wants the team to work on maintaining focus.
“We need to work on our standing, our takedowns and keeping our intensity levels up as we try to push the pace of the match,” Campbell said.
