Mr. Jimmy Frank Sasser

1934-2013 

Graveside service for Mr. Jimmy Frank Sasser, 79, of Montgomery, will be Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Alexander City Cemetery with veteran’s honors provided by the Alexander City Veteran’s Honor Guard.  Rev. Wayne Henderson will officiate.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.

Mr. Sasser passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Lake Martin Community Hospital.  He was born on January 2, 1934 in Kellyton, Alabama to Jack Dison Sasser and Mary Jane Steverson Sasser.  He worked as a self-employed textile salesman until his retirement.  Mr. Sasser was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and served on the USS Oriskany.  He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and loved his family dearly.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Janell Baker Sasser of Montgomery; daughters, Sherry Teague (Jack) of Foley, Lisa Walton (Clay) of LaFayette, Marla Garner (Ricky),  of Montgomery, and Darla Sasser of Montgomery; son, Jimmy Frank Sasser, Jr. of Montgomery; grandchildren, Kevin Walton (Kimberly), Anna Walton, Matthew Walton, Katie Walton, Natalie Walton, Kyle Walton, Eden Walton, Sam Walton, Nancy Ruth Walton, Gabby Garner, Gabe Garner, and Abigail Garner; great-grandchildren, Kaylee Walton, Noah Walton, and Ava Grace Walton; and brother, Hugo Sasser (Alice) of Kellyton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Nora Ann Ogburn.
