The Lady Generals of Horseshoe Bend experienced a case of deja vu as a last-second prayer went unanswered in a 45-43 loss to the Reeltown Lady Rebels.
Ranley Clayton and Amber Hardnett led the Lady Generals with 12 points scored. Asia Stowes added 11 points.
The game was tight from start to finish, with each team trading free throws in the final stanza to either tie the game or take the lead.
Reeltown would take the lead for good after two made free throws put them ahead with a minute left in the game.
Stowes then missed a potentially game-tying jumper as time expired, dashing the chances of victory for Horseshoe Bend.
It was a unfavorable end to what was a strong quarter for HBHS.
Despite heading into the fourth quarter down 38-31, the Lady Generals responded with a 6-1 run to open the period and get back in the game.
At the 2:30 mark, the teams began trading ties and leads before Reeltown went ahead for good.
The loss drops the Lady Generals to 9-6 on the year.
