The Generals were unsuccessful in their bid to make it 3-0 over Reeltown this season, dropping a 63-57 decision to the Rebels in triple overtime.
Jay Glenn led all scorers with 21 points. Cory Glenn added 18 points and Damian Milliner chipped in 11 points.
The extra periods were hallmarked by strong defense and numerous ties, but free throws, a weakness for the Generals, ended up being the deciding factor.
Reeltown on the other hand was able to sink their free throws when it mattered, regardless of who was sent to the line for the Rebels.
The heart-breaking loss drops the Generals to 7-7 on the year.
Horseshoe Bend was able to get the deficit to within two, as Reeltown struggled with shots from the charity stripe early in the third overtime, but the Generals were unable to capitalize and the Rebels redeemed themselves from the line.
Ariko Stewart was the high man for the Rebels, scoring 15 points.
Horseshoe Bend was knocking down shots from the line as the fourth quarter wound down but Reeltown was able to keep within striking distance.
The Rebels eventually lessened the deficit to three with 54 seconds left in regulation.
Stewart then came up big for the Rebels as he was the impetus for extra time.
Stewart drained a three-pointer with 12 seconds left to force the first overtime.
It wasn’t the only long-ball that would knot things up during the course of the game.
The teams traded three-pointers at the end of the third to leave it tied at 33.
J. Glenn employed the long-ball to much success, as he hit timely shots to keep the Generals in the contest.
Jay and Cory Glenn looked to bury the Rebels early on as the twosome combined for 13 points in the first quarter as Horseshoe Bend exploded out of the gate.
Reeltown was able to stay composed and eventually knotted the score at 15 as the first quarter ended.
Next, the Generals will take on Ranburne High School.
