Local churches plan Christmas celebrations

Many local churches are planning special services and activities in observance and celebration of Christmas. All members of the community are welcome to attend.

Sunday 

The Calvary Baptist Church will present Silent Night Holy Night, a Christmas musical. The musical will take place during the 11 a.m. worship service.

Monday 

- St. James Episcopal Church will hold a Christmas Eve service on Dec. 24. Music will begin at 5:45 p.m. and the service will start at 6 p.m.

- Comer United Methodist will host a Christmas Eve candlelight service at 5:30 p.m.

- Flint Hill United Methodist Church will hold a Christmas Eve candlelight and communion service at 5:30 p.m.

- Alexander City Methodist will host a candlelight service at 6 p.m. Dec. 24.

- First Presbyterian Church will host a Christmas Eve candlelight communion service at 6 p.m.

- Alexander City First United Methodist will host a variety of events on Christmas Eve. A come and go communion will be held from 4-6 p.m. A communion and candlelight service will be held at 7 p.m. and again at 11 p.m.

- Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church will hold a Christmas Eve communion service at 7 p.m., 8 p.m. and 9 p.m.

- Trinity United Methodist will be hosting a Christmas Eve candlelight service at 7 p.m.

Tuesday

- The members of Comer United Methodist Church are holding a free community dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pick up or call for a free ticket at the Department of Human Resources, the Salvation Army, the Nutrition Center, the municipal court or the mayor’s office. Tickets are required. For more information call 256-234-7831.

- First Baptist Church of Alexander City will hold a Christmas Day service at 10:30 a.m.
