DHS girls topple Clay, looking to BRHS rematch

Published 10:47am Thursday, December 13, 2012

The Lady Tigers of Dadeville High School scored 26 first quarter points on the way to a 54-32 rout of Central-Clay High School Tuesday night at the Dadeville High School gymnasium.
The Lady Tigers then took a 38-15 lead into the half.
Dadeville got 14 points from shooting guard Janie Moran and 10 points from senior center Rae Williams.
All of Williams’ 10 points came in the first quarter, as back-ups played for Dadeville most of the second half.
The win sets up another match-up between the Dadeville girls and the Benjamin Russell girls this coming Friday night at Dadeville High School.
In their last meeting, the Lady Wildcats caused 29 turnovers and defeated the Lady Tigers in the first round of the 2012 Pepsi Classic last Friday night.
“We’ve got to play well against good teams and want to play our best against good teams,” Dadeville girls head coach Mitch Joiner said.
“(Benjamin Russell) is a good team and we’ll need to be ready for a good game in front of a big crowd.”
Dadeville and Benjamin Russell are set to tip off following the junior varsity boys game Friday night in Dadeville.
