The Alabama High School Athletic Association Super-6 football state championships in Auburn’s Jordan-Hare Stadium saw three familiar teams to local football squads win titles.
In Class 5A, Spanish Fort High School defeated McAdory High School Thursday night by a final score of 45-14.
Benjamin Russell High School lost to the Toros in the state quarterfinals in Mobile by a final score of 28-17 in what was Spanish Fort’s closest game of the 2012 state playoffs.
Spanish Fort quarterback Joel Poe threw for 177 yards and three touchdowns, while wide receiver Devonte Patrick had two receiving touchdowns in the win.
In Class 4A, UMS-Wright defeated No. 1 and undefeated Oneonta, 42-14 Friday afternoon.
The Bulldogs defeated Dadeville High School at home in Mobile in the second round of the state playoffs.
UMS-Wright racked up 422 yards of total offense, but Oneonta’s four turnovers wound up being the difference in the game.
UMS-Wright sophomore tailback Troy Dixon ran for 232 yards and three touchdowns, including a 74-yarder to cap off the Bulldog victory.
Lastly, the Tanner Rattlers completed their undefeated season in Class 2A with a title game victory over Washington County, 28-14.
The Rattlers topped Class 2A No. 3 Reeltown High School in the state semifinals in Reeltown two weeks ago.
Similar to the Reeltown game, Tanner tailback Heyden Stephens ran for 139 rushing yards, while Fred Rich accounted for two touchdowns.
Tanner defeated Reeltown the week before by a final score of 35-14 in Reeltown.
